The typing scroller might not be as user-friendly as I'd like, but this short tutorial should help. These are the back-end settings on the module test  

Enable cache : Enables the module's output to be cached.

Number of item titles : The number of titles the scroller should rotate. Set five items, for example, and after the fifth item, the scroller will start again from the first.

Quotes : This feature lets you put a line in the scroller without having to create a content item. The new line replaces the content item titles. For example, you might want to put a line on your front page announcing that your site will be offline tomorrow. You can do this by creating a quotes.txt file in the mod_typingscroller_jp folder. You will find the module folder I am referring to here:

modules/mod_typingscroller_jp

Create the quotes.txt. file in a text editor like Notepad and upload it to the mod_typingscroller_jp folder by ftp.

You can write a simple text in this file which will be shown in the scroller just like the content item titles. Once you set the quotes setting in the backend to "yes," the module will look for the quotes.txt file in the mod_typingscroller_jp folder.

When creating your text lines for the quotes.txt file, it is important to write hash (#) after every sentence. The hash symbol is an array delimiter that tells the script that a new line to scroll should begin here. If you have a long sentence then, you should break it by writing # so that it appears as a new scrolling line.

For example, the following lines:

should be written in the quotes.txt file as:

Note that I have removed the spaces around the #. The space between two words at the point of a line break should always be removed. So the phrase:

"....tihng is taht frist..."

Would change to:

"...tihng is#taht fris..."  and not into "tihng is # taht frist ",  " tihng is# taht frist"  or "tihng is #taht frist."

Category IDs: If you are using the content item and not the quotes files, then place here the the ID of the categories from which you want the content item titles to appear in the scroller. 

Title Font Size, Title Font Color, Title Font Weight, Background Color, Scroller Width are all straightforward.
