jp Carousel is a module that has an effect similar to the main question module on Yahoo! Answer's home page. The module displays a set number of characters or words from the intro text of the latest item, and slides them across the page together with the article's latest comment. The module is based on Jquery javascript library and carousel plugin by Sorgalla. The slides will auto scroll from right to left in defined intervals and at a predefined speed. If you're using Community Builder, you can choose to let the avatar of the user and the article's commentator appear next to the article. This tutorial will help you to set up jp Carousel on your site by explaining the settings you will need to define: Show CB avatar: Choose "yes" or "no" depending on whether you have Community Builder installed. Show frontpage: Defines whether content published on the front page also appears in the carousel. Show comments: Defines whether the latest comment appears below the intro text of the content item. (So far, I have throughly tested this feature with !joomlaComment and akocomment and partly with jomcomment too. I've found it works with all of them.) Carousel width and Carousel height: Sets the width and height of the carousel module. Image width and height: Sets the width and height of the main image of the content item. This does not apply to the width and height of the avatar, however. To change the dimensions of the avatar, you will have to make changes in the CSS file. It is not a good idea though to increase the number of variables in the module's xml to optimize the speed of code processing. Auto scrolling, speed of animation and time delay in slides: Choose to make the scrolling automatic or manual. Speed of animation allows you to choose between two scroll speeds. Time delay determines how often the slides will be changed. |
