jp Tipster

Greetings. You're looking at Tipster.*

Tipster creates tooltips similar to what you see on sites like Yahoo! news. But unlike those tooltips, the ones you create with Tipster display other content items on your Joomla site. Tipster tooltips are "sticky," which means you can see them all the time, instead of only when hovering. Also, it means that you should wear a bib or something when you work with it. You wouldn't want to ruin that fantastic new outfit.

Here's an example of Tipster doin' its thang:

Wow! This tooltip component works so well, it makes want to learn about another cool JP extension!

Important:

1. You can't  have two tooltips on the same page for the same article, because the mambot uses the content item's id number to generate the tooltip. If you try to double up, the world might explode.

2. If the intro text for your content item has an image, the image that displays in the tooltip will be the same size. We're working on a new release with the ability to shrink images to thumbnail size. But hey, upgrades are free.

How it works:

The syntax for Tipster is pretty simple. In this example, we'll substitute the curly bracket { with parentheses (, otherwise, well, you wouldn't be able to see the syntax, and that would be silly, right?

(jqtipsjp 34|230|300)some text to become a link(/jqtipsjp).

Here 34 is the content item id, and 230 is number of characters to display. These parameters are required. The optional parameters are width, which is 300 in px in this example, and custom title:

(jqtipsjp 34|230|300|This is custom title)some text to become a link(/jqtipsjp).

And...voila!

some text to become a link

Don't forget, kids, you have to use {curly brackets}.

*It used to be called JQTips JP.
